My first time visiting UCLA. Peep the socks and slides.

This essay’s already almost 4,000 words, so I’ll keep the introduction short. I graduated from UCLA in December 2020. Here are 10 lessons I’ve learned from my time in college.

1. The Anderson School of Management has the best water fountain.

Without a doubt, the best water fountain on campus is on the second floor of the Anderson School. First of all, if you’ve never been to that corner of campus, it has some of the nicest buildings on campus and there’s something awfully empowering about sitting there in my flip flops and basketball shorts as graduate business students in suits walk by staring at me, but, second and more importantly though, there is a special fountain on the second floor that supposedly has some ionized, coconut-infused, alkaline water. I have no idea what any of that means, but all I know is that the water is not only the coldest water on campus, but also the best tasting. Why is it the best tasting? Because it tastes like absolutely nothing.

Have you ever realized that the best tasting water is the water that doesn’t taste like anything? Whenever water tastes like something, it is automatically inferior to tasteless water. I think in the same way, some blessings in life are the stuff that you don’t notice unless it’s bad.
